Why Only X-Ray Could Inspect These Cookie Roll Tins

Why Only X-Ray Could Inspect These Cookie Roll Tins

Product: "Yuen Long" Cookie Rolls in metal tins
Previous Challenge: Metal packaging blocks metal detection entirely
Solution: Yiwan X-Ray Inspection System

The Dilemma: You Can't Metal-Detect a Metal Can

Cookie rolls are fragile, premium products. They're packed in square red tins — not just for shelf appeal, but to protect the delicate rolled wafers from crushing during transport.

Here's the problem: a metal detector cannot inspect a product sealed inside a metal container. The tin itself triggers the sensor. There is no way to distinguish between "the packaging" and "a dangerous metal fragment" — so the entire batch goes uninspected, or the line grinds to a halt with non-stop false rejects.

For a brand like Yuen Long, shipping a metal-contaminated tin isn't a QC slip. It's a recall waiting to happen.

The Yiwan Solution

We installed an X-ray inspection system directly on their post-sealing conveyor.

As the video shows, each sealed red tin passes through the inspection tunnel on a blue conveyor belt. The X-ray imaging engine generates a live, high-resolution scan that penetrates the metal lid and tin walls — rendering a detailed density map of the contents inside.

The system's touchscreen GUI displays a real-time grid analysis. A red-highlighted zone on screen marks a detected anomaly — potentially a metal fragment, a stone, or a piece of broken processing equipment — buried inside the egg rolls where no metal detector could ever see it.

Why X-Ray Won Here

Factor Metal Detector Yiwan X-Ray
Metal tin packaging Blind — tin triggers sensor Penetrates tin walls and lid
Non-metal contaminants (stone, glass, ceramic) Cannot detect Detects via density difference
Broken/missing product detection No Yes — density anomaly
False reject rate ~100% (unusable) <0.1%
Compliance Manual sampling only 100% inline with trace logs

The Result

Every tin of Yuen Long cookie rolls now passes through the Yiwan X-ray tunnel before cartoning. Contaminants are rejected automatically. Production speed is maintained. And the brand ships with confidence — knowing that what's inside the can is exactly what the label promises, and nothing else.
